Today's word is disillusion.

Disillusion means to cause someone to realize a belief they have is false.

It helps me to realize that "dis" at the beginning is negating something, right.

Like disapproval, disagreement.

And "illusion" in the middle means a belief that's false.

So I'm letting you know that this belief is false.

Let's talk about the tooth fairy, for example.

If you believe that there's this very tiny woman with wings who retrieves teeth from under your pillow and leaves you money for those teeth, I hate to disillusion you but that fairy is not real.
