AI或将取代初级金融分析师(上)

So Wall Street is remarkable because the way that you become successful is really unchanged for generations.

You take an entry-level investment banking analyst job.

You are sleeping at your desk; you are showering at your desk, pretty much, and you are on call for your bosses to do the grunt work, to do the paper work for all of these big money corporate merger deals.

You put up with it because eventually you will get paid more and you will have your own analysts to boss around.

A.I. totally complicates that because this sort of boring, basic level work that might take even a very intelligent analyst an entire weekend, A.I. can do in seconds.

It can tell you whether two companies are suitable for merger; it can put together a spreadsheet of all the possible historical financial information you need on a company or a bond deal.

And perhaps most impressively, A.I. can literally create the client presentations, the PowerPoint documents, the legal documents for any number of financial transactions.

I spoke to one consultant to banks, Julia Dhar of BCG, and she really put it succinctly.

She said: "The inevitable question is going to be 'do you need fewer analysts?'"

Some of Wall Street's major banks are asking the same question, as they test A.I. tools that can largely replace their armies of analysts by performing in seconds the work that now takes hours, or a whole weekend.
