We may have a ways to go before we get a second dose of The Seven and the Boys, but there's plenty of information coming out already about what's in store on the series' upcoming season.

Here's everything you need to know about The Boys Season 2.

Filming on The Boys Season 2 began in the summer of 2019, and back then, it looked as though the series was on track to drop its second season very soon.

The Boys' series creator Eric Kripke openly admitted that he wanted to deliver a fresh bundle of episodes to viewers in summer 2020, ideally one year after Season 1 premiered.

Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic wound up shutting down virtually all film and television productions in early 2020, but thankfully, The Boys had already wrapped filming on Season 2 by that point in time.

On the final day of shooting in November 2019, Kripke tweeted that Season 2 was, quote, coming summer 2020.

However, while principal photography was complete, all the post-production work for Season 2 still had to be done, and it could only be safely finished remotely due to health and safety restrictions put in place in response to the coronavirus.

That threw a wrench in the plan for Season 2 to have a summer premiere.

In May 2020, Kripke promised via a tweet that Season 2 was nearly finished, and that a release date announcement was coming soon.

He and the folks at Amazon Studios made good on that promise in late June 2020, when they announced that The Boys Season 2 will definitively premiere on September 4, 2020.
